Bone Health Assessment
Tests to Find Why Bones Are Getting Weaker
Doctors use bone markers, which are tests done on blood and urine, to see if bones are becoming weaker. Bones can weaken naturally as people get older, especially after menopause when estrogen levels drop. But sometimes, certain health issues or medicines can speed up bone loss. Some common problems are hyperparathyroidism, not having enough vitamin D, and celiac disease. Also, steroids, which are medications, can make bones weaker faster than usual.
Tests to Expect
- Celiac panel
- Standard Blood Panel
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Chemistry levels (Calcium, renal function, phosphorus, magnesium)
- Total testosterone
- Liver function tests
- Parathyroid hormone (PTH)
- Thyroid-stimulating hormone
R.E.M.S. Technology
Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry
Radiation-free technology for assessing bone density and quality on the lumbar vertebrae and proximal femur through a revolutionary approach to characterise bone microarchitecture using radio frequency signals acquired during a simple ultrasound scan. The method overcomes all the main limitations of DXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) and QUS (Quantitative Bone Ultrasound).
