Botox Q & A
What Is Botox?
Botox is a wrinkle-relaxer that temporarily freezes the injected muscle. As a powerful nonsurgical injectable, Botox can minimize wrinkles and help prevent new ones from forming.
Which Areas Does Botox Treat?
Since Botox targets muscle movement, it primarily treats dynamic wrinkles, the wrinkles that form as the result of repeated muscle movement in the same spot. Unlike dermal fillers, these neuromodulators cannot plump up saggy skin or treat volume loss. Instead, Botox works best to treat:
- Crow’s feet
- Frown lines
- Forehead wrinkles
- Marionette lines around the mouth
- Lines between the brows
- Chin dents
- Bunny lines by the nose
Since Botox temporarily freezes your muscles, they can’t continue making repeated movements that form new wrinkles.
How Long Does Botox Last?
Once injected, Botox begins working right away. You may start to notice results within the first three to five days, but the most visible results occur after one to two weeks.
Each treatment lasts approximately 3 to 5 months, depending on your unique situation.
Botox can be administered every 3 to 6 months.
Do I Have Other Options?
In addition to Botox, XBody Health, Wellness & Spa offers two other neuromodulators at various price ranges:
Xeomin®
Xeomin® uses the same protein used in Botox® but is specifically formulated to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyes. Xeomin® is injected directly into the affected muscles. It works by preventing the muscle fibers between the eyes from contracting when you squint or frown. This reduces the appearance of the folds and frown lines. Xeomin® treatments are quick and relatively painless and most patients will begin to see improvement as early as three to four days after the treatment with the maximum effect achieved at 30 days. Results typically last up to three months but vary by patient.
Dysport®
Most patients use Dysport to treat moderate to severe crow’s feet and frown lines. Some experts believe this powerful neuromodulator actually works faster and longer than Botox. It also spreads farther once injected, so you need fewer injections to see noticeable results within 48 hours. Dysport results can last up to 13 months.
Botox and other neuromodulators provide a pain-free, effective way to treat wrinkles and prevent them from forming. If you think Botox is right for you, call the experts at XBody Health, Wellness & Spa or schedule an appointment online to learn more about your options.
